Once again, the holiday season is here, and with it comes tight work schedules, stretched PTO, and family obligations all across the country. You can’t be in multiple places at once, but you can make your travel days a little easier by booking a private jet charter. NDA is the top jet charter and fleet management company serving the North Dallas area, and we’ve facilitated holiday travel for decades. Stick around for our top tips for booking private flights for the holidays.
Prepare Your Itinerary
When you book your private jet charter, you’ll need to have at least a loose itinerary that includes your ideal departure and return times, as well as the location you’re traveling to. Unlike booking a commercial flight, you aren’t beholden to commercial airports located in hub cities. NDA has access to over 7,000 airports across the nation, including private airports in smaller cities and locales. Chances are that we can get you a lot closer to your destination with no layovers or unexpected gate changes.
Assess Your Jet Options
Private jet charter companies make it easy to find the jet that meets your needs, but you’ll still need to assess the company’s fleet to understand what your options are. Pay close attention to details like passenger maximums and luggage capacities. Private jets have far fewer limitations regarding what you can bring on board (particularly in the cabin) than commercial airlines, but you’ll still need to make sure that your luggage weight doesn’t exceed your jet’s capabilities.
Book Early
Your family isn’t the only one to consider private transportation this holiday season, especially in the wake of recent disruptions to TSA operations. To ensure that you’re more likely to get the exact jet rental you prefer, make sure you’re booking early. Try to get your travel arrangements finalized by early December for Christmas, Hanukkah, or New Years’ trips. Otherwise, you may need to fly on a jet that is larger (and likely pricier) or smaller (and less accommodating to your passengers or luggage) than what you had anticipated.
Pack Accordingly
Private jet charter companies typically don’t restrict the weight of individual pieces of luggage, like commercial airlines do. However, there will be a maximum weight capacity overall. If you know that you’re traveling with a lot of items, you may want to assess the weight of your items beforehand. If you’re bringing a pet, make sure to ask about any pet travel requirements (such as crating or leash requirements).
Prepare for Your Travel Day
On the day of your private flight, make sure to arrive 15-20 minutes early. You will not need to clear TSA security lines, so there is no need to build in that typical two-hour window. Make sure you have a photo ID and booking information. Keep items you’d like to access in the cabin separate from the rest of your luggage.
